This page provides links and information to support Mentor’s who are using the MENTORING OUT OF THE BOX 1 X 1: Amphibian Adventure with their son or mentee. There are several resources provided below that will better equip you as you begin this Mentoring Adventure.

ONLINE RESOURCES
There are tons of websites online that can help you and your mentee learn about amphibians together. Here are just a few that may provide a good place to start:
Pennsylvania Herp Identification was developed as a guide for the Reptiles and Amphibians of Pennsylvania. The guides show Coloration and Pattern differences among species though out PA along with information on ID characteristics. The site had and ID page for each species that are found through out Pennsylvania that includes the characteristic information, detailed photos and range maps.
There is lots of good identification, range, and natural history information on their site, especially the Frogs & Toads of Pennsylvania section. Many states have a website similar to this one. While this page can be useful for others in the North East, just note that there will be some variation in species from state to state. Visit their site here.
Association of Zoos & Aquariums is dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, education, science, and recreation. AZA represents more than 230 facilities in the United States and overseas, which collectively draw more than 200 million visitors every year. AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums meet the highest standards in animal care and welfare and provide a fun, safe, and educational family experience. In addition, they dedicate millions of dollars annually to support scientific research, conservation, and education programs.
Especially interesting is their FROGWATCH program, which you can find here. But they also have a broad range of information as well as some fun games and activities for kids.
Amphibian Survival Alliance promotes and coordinates the implementation of conservation actions for amphibians through an active, growing, engaged, committed, and collaborative partnership around the world.
This is a fantastic organization and site the provides much in the way of resources and information about amphibians around the world as well as information about how important amphibians are to our global ecosystem.
AMPHIBIAWEB provides a wonderful database of information on amphibian declines, natural history, conservation, and taxonomy. Their online database is searchable by species, taxonomy, and country and provides educational resources regarding amphibians. You can find them online here.
National Geographic a very visual and fact filled website full of amphibian information. From dart frogs to tiger salamanders, each amphibian is represented with fun facts and photos that are age appropriate and educational for both mentor and mentee! You can find the site here.
AMPHIBIAN ADVENTURE ACTIVITY BOOK – ANSWER KEY
Included in the Amphibian Adventure is an Activity Book for the boy / mentee. The following sections provide all the answers to the included activities.
As a mentor, you may want to review the answers ahead of time so as to be prepared to assist your son or mentee as he works through the activities. Being prepared to answer his Activity Book questions, you will help to set yourself up as a trusted source the youth can confidently turn to, not just when he needs answers to these activity questions, but any time he is in need.

Note: this crossword has a couple of answers that may be difficult for younger age boys. But this is a good time to help him to RESEARCH and LOOKUP answers online by using any of the tools above, including simply using Google, too.

Tree Climbers is designed to engage men in becoming spiritual fathers to their sons and to the fatherless. This weekly adventure offers men the opportunity to spend dynamic, profitable time teaching their boys God’s Word.
Tree Climbers is for kids and for men! It’s an investment that will pay rich dividends for years to come. You can learn more about this program here.
Stockade Stockade provides men with the tools needed to start building godly men with boys aged 8-11. Boys are discipled toward Christ and biblical manhood through a comprehensive process of life skills, physical and mental activities, fun, service, achievement, Bible memory, and stories. Adult Christian men serve as role models and demonstrate Christian manhood in action. You can learn more about this program here.
Battalion is a discipleship ministry in which Christian men build personal relationships with teen guys and mentor them to be effective Christian leaders. Guided by adult men these 12-18 year-old young men are not simply shown how to lead but are the ones leading the program and events week to week.
The young men in Battalion share experiences in peer group leadership through weekly meetings, the achievement program, service projects and outings, helping them to become leaders by leading. You can learn more about this program here.
